ABSTRACT

This chapter considers the issues associated with the development of clear responsibilities for TAs, the ways in which they might be involved in this process and how the outcomes are communicated to the rest of the team, particularly class teachers. The chapter goes on to address the ways in which flexible deployment of the assistants may be achieved, in order both to play to their strengths and to enhance the learning environment for children. It draws on the Manchester research evidence in these key areas of management practices.
