ABSTRACT
The National Literacy Strategy framework for teaching introduced in 1998 sets out the teaching objectives for all children from Reception to Year 6 to enable pupils to become literate.
The term literacy includes the skills of reading and writing as well as speaking and listening to enable pupils to understand and use oral and written language.
