ABSTRACT
There are three main topics that are often misunderstood by students, and sometimes more senior researchers, on which comments are presented below. One is the methodological critique of systems theory involving "emergentism." Second is a discussion of information and meaning in relation to social science. Last is the question of control theory, again as it may apply to social science.1
