ABSTRACT

Though the chapter title reads like a challenge, it is not an impossible one. Many of my clients develop a two-and-a-half to three-octave range in their siren. You, too, can achieve this using the correct approach. The siren is an incredibly versatile vocal exercise, useful for a quick vocal warm-up, for developing range and targeting gear changes, for improving your sense of pitch, and for programming song melodies into the muscle memory. Dealing with tension and developing vocal range are two of the major issues in singing training. The exercises that follow will enable you to target these topics at the best time in your training – early on.
