Higher-ordersystems(suchasthecouple)bothinfluenceandare influencedbylower-ordersystems(suchastheactions,thoughts,and emotionsofthejealousperson).Thisreciprocalinfluencecancause negative-feedbackloopsthatmaintainthejealousyproblemor positive-feedbackloopsthatpromotechange.Disruptinganegative feedbackloopinahigher-ordersystem(arelationship)mayinvolve orleadtochangeinalower-ordersystem(thejealousperson).
