ABSTRACT
This is the first of four chapters with a more practical orientation to the notion of reflection. The important role of reflection in learning has been established, and these chapters are concerned with the enhancement of learning and professional practice by working with reflection in real situations. In general, the material of these chapters relates to adult and higher education or professional development, but does not need to be related only to classroom learning (Strange, 1992).
