Differentiation and progression book
Most teachers differentiate in their planning. Clearly they cannot devise a unique lesson for every child in a large class that exactly meets that child's needs (though some children with special needs may have an IEP - an Individual Education Programme - that does just that) . They may plan for the majority of the class, and then consider the needs of children who need to be extended, and also of children who will need additional support. In making their plans , teachers will consider the use of resources that include their adult assistants and their own time.
