ABSTRACT

These three perspectives on PE, from teachers, trainee teachers and pupils serve to say something about what PE is all about and the type of activities that appear to define it. As professionals, it is important that we are able to present our feelings and views on the subject. We also need to fully understand what PE is all about to be able to justify it as a learning experience for children and articulate this to a variety of audiences in and outside of education. It is a hope that this book will provide such knowledge and justifications to enable readers working with 3-11 children to articulate the uniqueness of the subject and the particular demands of its pedagogy.
