ABSTRACT
ICT has a lot of equipment! When people talk about ICT, it conjures up images of computer rooms and networks, of whiteboards and data projection panels, of robots and control technology. Increasingly we are moving to wireless networks, laptops, palm tops, digital cameras and ‘anywhere, any place, any time’ technology. However, teachers need to think about the physical design of the classroom in order to manage effectively large quantities of equipment.
Greenwich Millennium Primary School and Health Centre is one prototype for the ‘classroom of the future’:
Each classroom at MPS is equipped with multiple network points, an interactive whiteboard and other digital technologies such as digital cameras and web cameras. The building is designed to be light and airy to provide an optimum working environment; clever features such as automatic blinds on the windows, to reduce light levels on bright days, are commonplace. 1
