ABSTRACT

In 2003 the Government stated its intention, through the Standards Fund to provide £268 million specifically for support staff salaries and £37.45 million for their training during 2003–04.1 Good support staff make teaching a very pleasant and enjoyable job. Getting the wrong staff can make it a nightmare. In the ICT classroom you are likely to have two different types of support: the TA (Teaching Assistant) whose job it is to support the pupils, and the ICT technician whose job it is to maintain, and possibly troubleshoot, problems with the equipment. Their roles and responsibilities are very different in most schools.
