However, most other destination attractions and facilities that are singular in nature, or for which local markets can only support a single facility, are increasingly seeking the numerous benefits associated with being downtown. Even multiplex cinemas, which require a large footprint at a relatively low cost and large volumes of parking, which customers expect to be convenient and free, are coming back to dense downtowns in a vertical configuration with shared parking arrangements. These businesses, in turn, anchor and benefit from restaurants, bars, stores, offices, hotels, apartments, and other entertainment venues in downtown mixed-use developments.
