ABSTRACT
Although much of the material which relates to trade has already been considered, it is useful to draw together certain strands which have not been discussed in any detail. Specifically in relation to the potential routes, mechanisms, and scale of trade, and also in respect to the potential interchange of factors which connect with trade and exchange but which transcend the purely material and economic. The latter being a theme which is also returned to in the context of discussing identity in the next chapter.
