ABSTRACT
Arrange two teams of children in parallel rows facing each other as shown below. Lay out number flashcards in front of each team member 1 to however many team members there are.
Show the children an equation, which has an answer that comes within the range. The two children with that answer on their flashcard hold it up as quickly as they can. The first to do so is 'promoted' up to number 1 position in their team, requiring some team members to move down one place to fill the space he/she has vacated. Continue play for a fixed time or until most/all the children have had a turn in the number 1 position.
