(i) Pakistan, China, Sri Lanka as sources of terrorist infiltration and Idestabilisation';

(ii) separatist movements, suspected of being supported by lexternal' powers like those mentioned above, in Kashmir and Punjab;

(iii) INaxalite' or other indigenous resistance movements especially in north-eastern states (e.g. AssamtBihar, Manipur)

where direct military rule by India has been in force; (iv) internal conflicts between religious (Hindu-Muslim-Sikh), caste

or ethnic groups.
