ABSTRACT

Exchange examples of things that others have tried to get us to do to prove we're not 'chicken' – include stupid risks and things we believe to be wrong (crime, organised bullying etc.). Look at the responses used on sheet 33(a) and discuss what sorts of comments they are – are they jokey, assertive, alternative suggestions, compliments, reasons not to etc.? Would some responses result in losing face? Would any result in the loss of friends? Do you really want 'friends' who would get you into danger or trouble? Could they result in you being regarded as more mature or sensible?
