ABSTRACT

Eric Aoki, PhD, is Associate Professor in the Department of Speech Communication, Colorado State University. His research specialization is in the ethnography of communication. He publishes in the areas of ethnography, queer studies, media studies, and cultural diversity. Eric teaches classes in Intercultural, Co-Cultural, and Interpersonal Communication and has been twice recognized for excellence in teaching on his campus. He has also been recognized by both the Critical Cultural Studies and the Visual Communication divisions of the National Communication Association for co-authored works with his colleagues. Finally, Eric spends time oil painting about diversity and global-based content in his art studio while also serving on the President's Commission on Women and Gender Equity on campus as well as on the Board of Directors for the Northern Colorado AIDS Project in his community of Fort Collins, Colorado. Eric serves as Media Reviews Editor of the Journal of GLBT Family Studies.
