While quantitative analyses were critical to the development of a predictive model for families exiting homeless and remaining housed, the essence of the experiences families went through could only be captured through qualitative data analysis. For, as Capra (1987, p. 375) observed, “A science concerned only with quantity and based exclusively on measurement is inherently unable to deal with experience, quality, or values.” While many qualitative techniques could have been applied to this research study, I used the method characterized by Denzin and Lincoln (1994) as bricolage to capture the multifaceted interactions and experiences represented by this study.
