ABSTRACT

If you listen to two people talking to each other, in any language, you will notice that in many of their sentences two or more simple sentences are combined into more complex ones. In Turkish, too, sentences can be combined in this way. This lesson will introduce the first relevant forms. To avoid confusion, we will use the term ‘clause’ to refer to the parts that constitute a complex sentence in this way. A sentence can consist of a main clause and any number of subordinated clauses, or of two or more coordinated clauses.
