ABSTRACT
Abaj Takalik (Retalhuleu, Guatemala) Noted for its large sculptural corpus in three or more dif ferent art styles, possibly including Olmec, Abaj Takalik is a multi-component site consisting of about seventy struc tures aligned on nine north-south oriented plazas at an elevation of 600 meters. It is situated within the agricul turally rich upper piedmont of the Guatemala Pacific Slope, on an ancient route between the Guatemala High lands and the Pacific Coast.
