ABSTRACT
At their simplest diary entries can be a record of the outcomes of a scientific enquiry, written up in the form of diary entries by a scientist. Alternatively, they can be a record of a scientist’s speculations about some new idea or theory, written as though they were from a scientist at the time that those ideas were current.
