I grew up in a w o rk in g class, p o o r fam ily , w ith tw o a lco h o lic p arents. I was p re tty m u c h o n m y o w n . W h e n I was a kid, th e re w e re n ’t any ro le m od els. I can re m e m b e r th o u g h ts of, “I ’d su re lik e to be a p o lice o fficer,” bu t I can
re m e m b e r th o u g h ts of, “I'd like to be a law yer,” and, “I w an t to play little
league baseball.” I d id n 't co nsid er it a v iable avenue to m e at th e tim e , so I d id n 't
th in k abo u t it seriously.
