ABSTRACT
Notwithstanding the frequent Hints and Petitions I have receiv’d to take the Theatre under my Protection, I have hitherto declined it from an Opinion, that its Condition was absolutely desperate, that it was degenerated to Farce and Shew, and sunk beneath the Dignity of my censorial Notice.
