The Rise of a Revolutionary Ideology: Resurgence of Islamic Nationalism

In a decade or so before the 1979 revolution, a new, revolutionary ideological trend emerged and changed the climate of opinion among a segment of the intelligentsia. In order to account for this development, which constitutes the ideological cause of the 1979 revolution, we have to make more explicit some of the assumptions underlying the discussion in Chapter 1.
