ABSTRACT
Children and adolescents yearn for understanding. Genuine understanding propels accurate and impactful empathy. This chapter sets the table for the therapeutic practices and procedures that follow. Our approach emphasizes that techniques are never enough and illustrates the practicality of case conceptualization. The rubrics explain the “conceptual guts.” Rudiments teach you how to construct case conceptualizations from an inferential process.
