outline the relevance of the study of ‘religions and development’;
analyse the reasons why religion has been ignored or marginalized by mainstream development studies, policy and practice;
discuss the reasons for the recent ‘turn to religion’ by international development researchers and actors;
provide an overview of the book’s structure, approach and content.
