ABSTRACT

Our survey begins with a fundamental question: Why should simulation games be employed in history classes? Though there are many supporters of this learning tool, there are also a fair number of parents, administrators, fellow teachers, and, yes, even students who will need to be persuaded, or at least made more comfortable with the value of simulation games as learning tools. This next section offers a set of important talking points to use with these various groups when discussing simulations. Equipped with such reasons teachers can advocate the value of simulation games in their own schools and articulate persuasively the benefits to students, colleagues, administrators, and parents.
