ABSTRACT

After studying this chapter you will be able to:

Understand the importance of implementing training programs for both the entrepreneur’s empowerment, relevant skills and knowledge, and the business’s management and goal accomplishment.

Describe the various types of training programs for entrepreneurs (e.g., traditional training, coaching, mentoring, counseling), and distinguish between them so that the relevant program is selected for the business according to its specific needs.

Underline the main characteristics and core principles of each program: training, mentorship, coaching and counseling.

Identify the responsibilities and tasks of the provider (trainer, mentor, coach, counselor) and the entrepreneur (trainee, mentee, person being coached or counseled) to establish and maintain trustful relationships and maximize the potential success of the programs.

Assess the effectiveness of training-related programs (or mentoring, coaching, counseling) employed in the business in light of its objectives and sustainable contribution to the business and the entrepreneur.
