ABSTRACT
Introduction There is a broad consensus among analysts that everything has been said and done in regard to the Palestinian-Israeli struggle. This view, which does not leave much room for optimism, is not surprising. Intractable conflict is a severe social crisis. However, in the study of humanities and social sciences it is almost impossible to predict future developments.1 There are always astonishing and unpredicted developments that could never have been imagined. Indeed, after the Second World War, when the hate between the two sworn enemies France and Germany had reached its peak, who could have imagined that 50 years later they would be among the founders of a European confederation, the European Union.
