ABSTRACT

It is perhaps not surprising that in a country where seriality played such an important role in daily newspapers, in weekly booklets, and the cinemas, there was room and interest for such a survey and that a most impressive number of 21,193 answers were received. The survey did, however, not come out of the blue, but refl ected a discussion that had already been going on for some months in various fi lm journals over whether serials were still a viable fi lm form or should disappear as soon as possible.
