ABSTRACT

This story is going to move around on you, using a lot of flashback and also the occasional imagined future. In this chapter, however, I want to give you my view of the way things are now in TESOL teacher education, before indicating the direction I want to head out in. Naturally, someone wanting to go somewhere else might show you a different panorama. For me, however, the overarching schema in which we work is that of reflective practice so, when our hero comes riding out of those opening titles, this is the background scenery from which s/he emerges.
