ABSTRACT
The pH dependence of kinetic parameters provides information on kinetic and chemical mechanism. The combination of pH and isotope effects can provide further information on chemical mechanism and the location of isotope-sensitive steps. In this chapter theory will be developed for the behavior of kinetic parameters as pH is varied, by use of unlabeled and deuterium (or heavier) labeled reactants.
