ABSTRACT
In order to understand the kinetics of enzyme-catalyzed reactions, it is necessary to understand simple chemical kinetics (non-enzyme-catalyzed). This is important, at least at the level of first- and second-order reactions, for enzyme-catalyzed reactions are first-order approaches to equilibrium, and the overall reaction is second-order or more complex.
