ABSTRACT
The first requirement for studying an enzyme-catalyzed reaction via steady-state kinetics is a means of following the reaction. Parameters that must be taken into account for a good enzyme assay include sensitivity, interference from other components, ease of use, and cost. A more detailed consideration of assays can be found, for example, in the book by Eisenthal (1992).
