ABSTRACT
The concept of limitation of liability is now deep-rooted in the field of international maritime law. Although in recent years it has been subject to criticism, 1 limitation of liability has received ample support from many quarters. 2 Indeed, the proliferation of liability conventions which specifically preserve the right to limit liability is further evidence of the maritime community's support for the concept.
