ABSTRACT
Hard determinism is the view that (a) free will is incompatible with determinism (hence, it is an incompatibilist position) and (b) determinism is actually true (compare soft determinism). Hard determinism’s popularity has waned considerably in recent times, as philosophers have come to accept that indeterminism might well be true.
