ABSTRACT
Amanda, Tony’s mother, said that he was full of energy. His dad had left when Tony was about two years old; Amanda didn’t know where he went. So she raised Tony and his sister Sam by herself. They were an interesting pair: Tony, who never seemed to stop moving, and Sam, who loved to read and write from a young age. Tony was tested for hyperactivity when he was five years old, but the doctor, who thought these types of diagnoses were ridiculous, told Amanda with a bit of contempt that Tony was a energetic boy and perhaps she couldn’t understand this because she was a single woman.
