ABSTRACT
This chapter explores what data are and the purpose they serve. It gives examples of appropriate data sources for early childhood teacher research including teacher journals, observations, child artifacts, surveys, interviews, and documents. The relationship of each research question and its connection to a data source will be emphasized. The main point of this chapter is to show that data come from the everyday life and activities of the classroom.
