ABSTRACT

I can remember the guts it took for me to raise my hand and speak in front of the entire class in elementary school. Questions and thoughts would race through my head every time before I would make that brave move to participate. Math was not as severe because I could calculate and see the answers blunt and clear before me. However, in reading class, there was no formula for making inferences and connections! How would I know I was right? As an adult, I gained the confidence to work past these fears. I also understand that there is value in how everyone responds to literature. Now, as a teacher, I find the need to pass on this understanding to my students.
