ABSTRACT

At the end of the last chapter, we considered briefly the important role played by new media and information technologies in transnational mobilization. And we looked at the Arab Spring and Occupy movements as prime examples. Because the use of new media, information, and communication technologies looks likely to continue to influence future global protest, this is one of our concerns in this chapter, too, where, among other things, we look at how the global justice movement has used the Internet extensively to organize international campaigns (Staggenborg 2011: 47).
