ABSTRACT
The Federal Republic of Nigeria is the largest single geographic and political unit along the West Coast of Africa. It occupies a position where the western parts of the African continent meet equatorial Africa and covers an area of over 356 669 square miles lying between parallels 40 and 140 N so that it is entirely within the tropical zone extending northward from the coastline for over 70 miles.
