ABSTRACT
Cumulative progress on functional theory of attitudes is being made through the laws of information integration. Two capabilities—valuation and integration—are essential to functional theory. Valuation is necessary to construct values of stimulus informers—values that are functional for operative motivations and goals. Integration is necessary to aggregate functional values of multiple stimulus informers into a unified response.
