ABSTRACT
One large group of commodities traded by ldcs faces problems which can be clearly distinguished from those discussed in the last chapter. These are the products in which exports from ldcs compete directly with domestic production in Western and Socialist developed countries, or in which ldcs compete directly with the farm and food industries of the developed world for supplies. These goods account for around 30 per cent of the primary commodities, other than fuels, exported by ldcs. 1
