ABSTRACT

This chapter considers a range of issues related to staff development: both your own development as a CLD professional and the development of those who work with you. It begins by looking at your own development and the reasons why this is important for you, your colleagues and your students. Some key aspects of the literature on reflective practice are discussed and evaluated, particularly as they relate to working in a CLD setting. This is followed by a consideration of the development of others with whom you work and the potential of teams to achieve far more than individuals within the CLD arena. The chapter concludes with a consideration of the potential impact of professional associations in the development of the whole area of CLD practice.
