In order to reduce the consumption of our planet’s finite non-renewable energy resources and the associated negative consequences such as carbon dioxide emissions, the designer or architect should optimized passive solar design strategies in creating improved thermal comfort conditions in organizing the plan, the shape of the built form, and the enclosure system. Passive design means that the designer takes full advantage of the resources of nature and site to improve the environmental performance of a building by using radiation, conduction, and natural convection to distribute heat and daylight for lighting. Our life on Earth tracks the cycles of the sun as it arches across the sky and so connects us with the rhythm of nature. Passive solar design does not use mechanical, electrical, or photovoltaic means to satisfy heating, lighting, or cooling loads.
