ABSTRACT

Excitement filled the Christ Assembly Lutheran Church in Staten Island in September 2007. The Liberian Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Diaspora Statement-Taking Program was about to come into being. Reverend Philip Saywrayne welcomed the crowd to his church, the largest Liberian church in New York City, a few blocks from the refugee community at Park Hill. He prayed for the success of the project initiated that day.
