ABSTRACT

When someone says, “How are you?” what do you normally answer? Do you think your answer is grammatical?

Question: Is it I feel bad or I feel badly? Answer: I feel bad if you are talking about an inner state. Question: Is it I am good or I am well? Answer: “I am well” is the answer to give if you are being asked about

your physical and emotional state (which you probably are). “I am good” relates more broadly to include moral and ethical status, as in “She’s a good person.” However, “I’m good” as an answer to “How are you?” is becoming commonplace.
