ABSTRACT
These approaches can be differentiated from the experimental approaches because in the nonexperimental approaches, there is no active independent variable (intervention), and the researcher does not manipulate or control the independent variable. Thus, nonexperimental approaches focus on attribute independent variables. Recall from Chapter 3 that attribute independent variables are characteristics that the participants bring with them to the study and are not controlled by the researchers.
