ABSTRACT

Like scientists, who cannot conceive someone could find a fish dinner in the desert, many people have not been able to fathom that there is such a thing as a gay, lesbian, or bisexual person of faith. Even for people who have come to understand that homosexuality is far more complex than they once believed, there is still a troubling theological gap when it comes to making room for gay spirituality. Their mentors taught that homosexual behavior is a sin, yet when they get to know gay people who seem to be more like themselves than not, they are puzzled and often feel a need to find exceptions to that rule.
