ABSTRACT

Miren is a lingering feeling of attachment which remains even after it has become impossible to form or maintain a relationship with the object of the emotion. The main reason why the actual relationship has become impossible may be an internal norm consciousness, or an external impediment such as death, physical distance or social separation. In general, however, the term miren comes most naturally to mind with respect to situations complicated by a powerful norm consciousness by which one tries to eliminate or suppress one’s own affection.
