ABSTRACT
Fishing in Shingū is not a static endeavour. There exist great seasonal changes, both regarding the climate and the aquatic resources. The species caught do not only change from season to season, but the size of a niche fluctuates from one year to the next. We are therefore able to say something about permanent changes only if we study the exploitation of these niches over a period of years.
